I just want to take a moment to recognise two people who went above and beyond tonight. A huge thank you to Rael from AAA Locksmiths. After watching the rugby, I was exhausted, and being locked out of your apartment is, quite frankly, a real pain! I waited no more than about 15 minutes, and R arrived and had me back inside in an incredibly short time. Absolutely like Superman! I was going to take a photo of R, but he wouldn’t let me — which is probably a good thing because he’s clearly better at locksmithing than posing for photos! 😂 I also want to give a very special mention to Sherna from Accommodation Centre, who has been absolutely excellent throughout. The way she has looked after me has been exceptional, and I have nothing but respect and appreciation for her. I do a lot of charity work and have had the privilege of working with some wonderful organisations and people, including Discovery, and when I come across people who genuinely do the right thing and take pride in looking after others, I believe they deserve to be recognised. R and Sherna — you are exactly the kind of people I believe we should surround ourselves with: people who do what’s right, who care, and who simply get the job done. Thank you both. Lots of respect. 🙏 Gary Meyers live in Aust , so these guys , especially Rael and Sherna were a Gift from Hashem ...

Locksmiths in Cape Town
Doors, cars, locks, keys and safes, across the whole of the Cape Peninsula.
AAA Locksmiths is not one shop covering a city. It is a set of branches, each with its own number, its own workshop and its own vans, and Cape Town is what they add up to. Phone 021 425 9966 and you reach the City Bowl branch, which runs the centre, the Waterfront, Woodstock and Observatory.
That structure matters most on the ordinary jobs, which is nearly all of them: a front door pulled shut on the keys, a car key that has stopped talking to the car, an office that needs its cylinders changed the same afternoon somebody resigns, a safe nobody has the combination for any more. Every branch carries the equipment for all of it rather than sending someone back for it.
Between them the branches reach the City Bowl and the Foreshore, the Atlantic Seaboard from Green Point out to Camps Bay, the Southern Suburbs, the Northern Suburbs as far as Kraaifontein, the Blouberg coast, the far south peninsula and the Helderberg. Tell us the suburb and we will tell you which branch is coming and how long it honestly takes to get there.

Services we do across Cape Town
Everything below is work the AAA branches do somewhere in this city every week. Follow a link for the detail, or phone the branch and describe what has happened.
What happens when you call from anywhere in Cape Town
The branch needs three things to give you a real arrival time: where you are, what has happened, and what you are locked out of.
- 01Start with the suburb
Cape Town is a big, slow city. The suburb decides which branch takes the job, and the street decides the arrival time.
- 02Describe the lock or the car
A gate, a front door, a safe or a vehicle. For a car we need the make, model and year before the van leaves.
- 03You get the price first
The full amount is agreed on the call. Nobody starts work on a number you have not heard.
- 04The van comes to you
A marked AAA vehicle and a locksmith who can identify himself. The work is tested with you before we leave.
How a Cape Town callout is actually dispatched
The branch that answers the phone is the branch that comes. That is the whole difference.
Search "locksmith near me" from anywhere in this city and a good deal of what comes back is a national number wearing a local name. The call is answered in another province, the job is sold on to whoever will take it, and the person at your gate is a stranger to both you and the business you thought you had phoned.
AAA works the other way round. The metro is split between branches — City Bowl, Sea Point, Blaauwberg, Bellville, Claremont, Tokai, Fish Hoek and Helderberg — and each one runs its own vehicles over ground its technicians live on. 021 425 9966 reaches the City Bowl branch. If your suburb belongs to a different branch we say so and give you that number, rather than pretending the drive is shorter than it is.
It also means the work is not treated as though the city were uniform, because it is not. Salt air off the Atlantic shortens the life of hardware on the seaboard. The older suburbs still have original locks hanging in original doors. The industrial nodes want master key systems and access control rather than lockouts. The student areas replace half their tenants every January. A branch that does one of those every week is worth more to you than a switchboard that has never done any of them.

OUR CUSTOMERS’ WORDS
What Cape Town customers say
From late-night lockouts to a new lock fitted just right. Here’s what our customers have to say.
Today had Rael from AAA Locksmiths out to install a biometric smart lock and a door closer, and I cannot recommend him highly enough. I’ll be the first to admit that I am incredibly fussy and have very high expectations when it comes to work being done on my property. However, Rael’s work was absolute perfection. He was incredibly meticulous, paying attention to the smallest details that others might have overlooked. It was clear throughout the process that he was doing everything to the very best of his ability, and it shows in the final result. The biometric hardware is seamless, the door closer is perfectly calibrated, and the entire installation looks and functions flawlessly. It truly couldn’t have turned out any better. If you are looking for a professional who takes real pride in their craft, ask for Rael. I am beyond pleased with the job!

AAA locksmiths came out and saved the day. My backdoor was locked and both main key and spare keys were damaged and we couldnt open the door. I called AAA locksmiths and they came out within 20 minutes. Within no time the door was opened and they fit a new lock mechanism in the door giving me two new spare keys. They even sanded the door so that it opens and closes easily as we needed to use force to open and close the door, now we can close the door with one finger. Very impressed with the service, highly professional, friendly and efficient. Thank you for saving the day!
I cannot believe how efficient AAA Locksmith’s is! I needed an entire lock replaced and multiple keys made and wow what a pain free and efficient process! Abu and Rael were fantastic to deal with and assisted me on the day that I called. The overall process of replacing the lock and cutting new keys for another door (which was done on site) took a total of 10 minutes! I’m seriously impressed! The pricing is very reasonable especially when the service and efficiency were so good! HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Thank you to lock smith AAA. Excellent 5 star service. My family and I were locked in and they came out within 10 mins and fixed not only one of our gates but a 2 cillinder one which we had not opened for a year. Demonstrated tremendous amount of patience, dedication to sorting out the problem and listened to instructions when entering the house as we were unable to open it. A job beyond well done thank you for taking care of my family and our situation.
Highly recommend AAA Locksmiths, especially Rael. From start to finish, the service was professional, seamless and genuinely customer-focused. He went the extra mile to find the best solution, paid attention to the aesthetics rather than just the functionality, and delivered an excellent result. Nothing was too much trouble, and the whole experience was effortless. I wouldn’t use anyone else going forward. Outstanding service.
Rail (hope spelt correctly) was so efficient, kind and knowledgeable. We love between Austria and Cape Town. He gave us perfect advice for use at present and how to plan for next years ahead. Well worth the fee, the expertise as well as neat workmanship. Will only stick with AAA in future.

Questions people ask before booking anywhere in the city
The things callers want settled before they agree to a callout. If yours is not here, ask it on the phone.
Which branch will actually come out to me?
Whichever one runs your suburb. 021 425 9966 is the City Bowl branch, which covers the centre, the Foreshore, the Waterfront, Woodstock and Observatory. If you are in Bellville, Claremont, Blouberg, Tokai, Fish Hoek or the Helderberg, we tell you on the call and give you that branch instead.
How long does a locksmith take to arrive in Cape Town?
It depends entirely on where you are and what the M3, the N1 or the De Waal Drive are doing at that hour. The branch quotes a time from where the van actually is when you call, and says so plainly if it is going to be a long one.
Do you cover the whole city or only the centre?
The whole metro, plus the peninsula down to Simon’s Town and out to the Helderberg. The branch network exists so that no part of it is served by a van sitting an hour away.
Can you open my door without damaging it?
Usually. Most residential locks can be picked open, which leaves the door and the lock exactly as they were. Some genuinely cannot, and when yours is one of them we say so before anybody starts.
Are you open at night and over weekends?
The line is answered 24 hours a day, every day of the week, including public holidays. Nights and weekends are a normal part of the work rather than an exception.
Can you do car keys anywhere in the city?
Yes, at the car. Have the make, model, year and whether you still have a working key. That determines what the technician brings with him and whether the key can be cut on site or has to be coded to the vehicle.
Will I know the price before you arrive?
Yes. The full amount is agreed on the phone before the van leaves the branch. If what we find on site changes the job, we stop and tell you before doing anything else.
How do I know the person at my gate is really from AAA?
The vehicle is marked, the technician carries identification, and the branch can tell you on the phone who is on the way. If anything does not match, do not open the gate — phone 021 425 9966 and check.
Locked out somewhere in Cape Town?
Phone the City Bowl branch and we will put the nearest van on it. Price first, real arrival time.
